Zippo starts production of slim lighters. The lghters have a flat bottom. The insert has a " wheel guard " ( cobra head ) to protect the flintwheel. |

The insert variation still has the horizontal logo , althoug the " Flints and Fluid " logo has been added above the " Patent Number " logo. Now Slims are also produced in Niagarafalls Ontario Canada. Those Canada Slims can only be identified by the insert. |

The logo runs the length of the insert from now on and the chimney on this model is not longer dimpled. This model must have a " large hollow " rivet. |
